Market Produce – Nov 5

It’s a colourful fall fairy wonderland out there!  Our beautiful coastal rain forest is home to lush trees and amazing vegetation, like fungi.

Mushrooms play an amazing ecological role in our environment and this time of year you might find a fungi surprise at the base of our local trees.  I expected to see a Cheshire Cat sitting on this  toxic toad stool  called Amanita Muscaria.  I found these resting under a oak tree in east Vancouver… not wonderland!  Fungi to look at but not to eat as these are toxic but play an import role in the ecosystem.

Here is what to expect at the market this week:
  • Akane Apples (BC and Organic)
  • Bananas (South America and Organic)
  • Avocados (Mexico)
  • Broccoli (BC)
  • Carrots (BC)
  • Corn (BC)
  • Kabocha Squash (BC)
  • White Mushrooms (BC)
  • Red Onions  (Wash)
  • Red Potatos (BC)

So make sure to head down to this Saturday’s mobile market locations to stock up. We will be at Brant Villa at 10:30am to 12:30pm and Kensington Community Centre from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Take a look at our mobile market locations for more info on how to find us.

See you this weekend!
