The Intergenerational Gardening Project is a Cedar Cottage Food Network initiative aiming to connect youth and seniors through a shared gardening experience. Interested youth will be trained in gardening basics in late May and early June, and then during the summer will connect with seniors in the community who could use an extra hand and spend time applying those new skills.

For Youth ages 12-17:
Youth training workshops will be held at the Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House on May 25th and June 8th from 3:30 – 4:30.

Topics will include:
Seed starting, soil make-up and amendments, transplanting, weeding, companion planting, beneficial insects/pollinator information and more!
Youth are strongly encouraged to attend at least 1 work party during the summer.

* No gardening experience is necessary!

Please email ccfneducation@gmail.com to register or for more information.

For Seniors:
This season we will be looking for 4 seniors in the Cedar Cottage/Kensington community with gardens in their yard to participate in the program. The seniors must be comfortable having a large group of people in their yard. All materials will be provided.

Please email ccfneducation@gmail.com to register or for more information.
